Kane Brown has teamed with Shania Twain for “Boots,” a new single that reworks the premise of Twain’s 1995 hit “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” The song brings Brown’s contemporary country sound together with Twain, the five-time Grammy winner whose original became a breakthrough hit early in her career.
“Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” was written by Twain and released as the lead single from her 1995 album “The Woman in Me.” The song became her first Top 40 country hit, first RIAA-certified Gold single and first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Brown’s new version was produced by Dann Huff and includes songwriting contributions from Twain, Alysa Vanderheym, Seth Ennis and Josh Hoge.
Rather than revisiting the original song’s story of suspected infidelity, Brown’s “Boots” approaches the familiar idea from a committed man’s perspective. Brown previously described the track as a “guy’s version” of Twain’s song, while Billboard reported that the new recording uses elements of the original concept while presenting a substantially different story. Twain contributes vocals to the recording, adding her connection to the song that inspired it.
