Chesney has dropped the single ‘Goldfish’ featuring Lily Meola, the latest preview of his upcoming album Silver Sands Marina, arriving Sept. 25. The song is the fourth advance track from Chesney’s 21st studio album, following the Top 10 hit “Carry On,” the previously released title track ‘Silver Sands Marina,’ and the single “Burn My Boat.”
Written by Gordie Sampson, Tenille Townes and Tia Sillers, Chesney said of ‘Goldfish‘ that “you listen to ‘Goldfish,’ where the guy wants to be all these animals based on their key attribute, and it could almost be a children’s song. The melody is so happy, it bounces along and picks you up with it. But when you get to the chorus and you realize he’s cried a fishbowl of tears, ‘drunk as a skunk, trying to get over you,’ it’s so clever, smart and spinning the pain into a whole other commodity. Who wouldn’t love this song?”
“Goldfish’ arrives alongside the official music video for the track, which was filmed after Chesney completed his run of performances at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The production traveled to Maui, where Chesney and his band filmed around the island, including locations near Ku’au Bay and Hana Highway.
Silver Sands Marina is described by Chesney as a project designed to give each song room to tell its story. The album includes appearances by Meola on “Goldfish,” Megan Moroney on “It Just Got Weird” and Colbie Caillat on “What We Got Going On,” alongside songs including “Talkin’ Dirt,” “Sad Casino,” “Shot A Car Into Space,” “Remember Me That Way” and “Shot Glass.”
