Country duo Dan + Shay have released their latest single, “Her, The Kids, and Jesus,” offering one of the most personal songs of their career as they continue building anticipation for their sixth studio album, Young, due Aug. 21. The track is the fourth preview of the upcoming project and reflects the pair’s current stage of life, with lyrics centered on family, gratitude and faith rather than the romance that defined many of their earlier hits.
Written by Dan Smyers, Shay Mooney, Andy Albert and Matt Dragstrem, the song first gained attention after Dan + Shay performed it during a surprise appearance at Nashville’s La La Land Cafe in late 2025. They later shared a full acoustic performance on social media before the official release, reviving a tradition they had not used since debuting “19 You + Me.” The duo said “this one is special to us for a lot of reasons, but most importantly because it was the song that inspired the direction for the entire Young album. This is our most honest and personal album yet, and hopefully you get a feel for that when you listen to the song.”
The single follows earlier releases including “Say So,” “Young” and “Marry You Again,” with “Say So” continuing to gain traction at country radio while also raising awareness of suicide prevention. Dan + Shay will further promote the new music with the launch of their The Young Tour on Sept. 11 in Noblesville, Indiana. The 26-city North American trek, featuring Tyler Hubbard and Josh Ross on select dates, will run through Nov. 7 in Mountain View, California.
